Make a Difference in a Child’s Life

Of the more than 31,000 children in foster care, more than 25,000 children have a voice. On behalf of our most vulnerable children,  THANK YOU!

Every day, your support makes stories like Kylie’s possible.

Our goal is to give a voice to every child that needs one. Due to an insufficient number of volunteers currently available, only 72% of the children in care have a voice to speak on their behalf.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We simply cannot do it without you. Your support will make a real, lasting impact in the lives of those that do not have a voice. The lives of thousands of children like Kylie are at stake. The Florida Guardian ad Litem Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; all donations are tax deductible.

Kylie’s Story:

Kylie, 8 years old, came into medical foster care due to severe medical neglect. She was placed in a wonderful medical foster home where she thrived for 18 months. Despite the fact that her GAL recommended against reunification with the biological mother due to noncompliance with the case plan, the child was reunified with her mom. Kylie’s GAL visited her frequently; she just knew that something wasn’t right. She visited the child’s daycare center several times and the reports from the teachers were not good. Kylie’s GAL went to her Child Advocate Manager, who went directly to the home and found the child was not even able to stand or walk. She immediately told the biological mother to take her to the pediatrician and she went with them. The pediatrician took one look at the child and sent her to the Emergency Room where she spent five weeks recovering from malnourishment and failure to thrive. Kylie was not able to tolerate food by mouth. The case went to court and the judge ordered no contact with the biological mother. During the next five weeks, the GAL visited Kylie in the hospital every day. After several medical follow-ups, good nutrition and unconditional love, the child is now healthy. The biological mother surrendered her rights and the child was placed in a pre-adoptive foster home where she will be loved and given every opportunity to thrive. The world is a better place for Kylie because of the dedication and determination of her GAL!
